Deanna Littell's Charm School

My friends Jeffrey Banks & Doria de La Chapelle have written the most devine book called PREPPY-Cultivating Ivy Style, published by Rizzoli. My exciting news is that I custom made a preppy bracelet for the book and I’m so happy to discover it’s a full page. Check it out below, so charming

  1. Bonjour Deanna,

I very much enjoyed your piece on Audrey Hepburn and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. I read the Wasson book “Fifth Avenue-5 A.M. enjoyed it immensely. That said, I was a bit amused to find Holly Golightly referred to as a “socialite”, however. It has never been a secret both in the film and the original book that both Holly and her would-be paramour, Paul Varjac, were kept in their charmingly luxurious style by rich patrons! No doubt there are socialites out there who subsist on family money or high-paying jobs. In this case, though, they fall into the category of courtesans more than socialites. Etre soutenu est plus charmante que prostitue’, n’estce-pas?! Have a wonderful trip to France and hope to see you in New York when we get back.

    • Chère Betsy,
It’s kind of funny to me too. I was quoting IMDB & should have sited them. All along the process of making & releasing this film Paramount was trying to “cover-up” the real story. If you read Fifth Ave-5 A.M. you’ll get the whole story. Audrey had objections because of her image & that was just the beginning…When do you get back?
      Au revoir Cheri

  2. D…

Can’t wait to see the book and to see the bracelet in person.

  3. I’ll be wearing it when next you see me.
